Summer Reading at the Sequoyah Regional Library

June 18, 2015

Visit the youth department at the R.T. Jones Memorial Library and other Sequoyah Regional Library branches and you might just see a superhero! Some of them are disguised as librarians, but their telltale capes are draped across their backs as they get into the spirit of the summer reading program and the theme, Every Hero Has a Story. Children have the ability to earn their own superhero capes as their love for reading is ignited through the summer reading program with the Sequoyah Regional Library. A superhero cape boasting their name will be posted for all to see once they complete three chapter books or 10 picture books (depending on their age or reading ability). Summer Reading logs for children are available at any of the library branch locations. Sequoyah Library

After the first requirement is met and a cape is received, students may qualify for additional rewards, books, and prizes including a free milkshake from Chick-fil-A with additional reading goals. Throughout the summer, fun and exciting activities centered around the Every Hero Has a Story theme are offered at the branches. Find out detailed information about summer programming on the children’s printable June and July calendars.

Not to be left out, adults may participate in the reading program by writing book reviews for books read during the summer. Completed book reviews will allow participants to be entered into a drawing for a prize bag full of Escape The Ordinary themed prizes. Book review forms for adults are available at any branch or may be submitted online.

Visit any of the Sequoyah Regional Library System locations to get printed materials and calendars regarding the summer reading programs and events.
