Ribbon cuttings generally mark fun and exciting events, and that is just what was observed on Thursday, Jan. 9 at the Cherokee Recreation and Parks Complex at 7545 Main in Woodstock, GA! A brand new play structure was opened to the public. This update and upgrade in the play structure at the recreation center came as a part of a larger project that brought renovations and improvements to JJ Biello Park and other parts of the recreation center.
Located just northeast of Ridgewalk Parkway, the county recreation center is home to three meeting or activity rooms, a gymnasium, a kitchen, a rink for in-line hockey, restrooms, a running and walking track, CRPA administrative offices, a playground, and a pavilion with grills. As a part of the recreation center improvements, the existing pavilion was renovated, and a new water fountain and restrooms indoors and outdoors were installed.

Additionally, much to the joy and happiness of parents and children everywhere, the playground was updated. A fence was added for increased safety during summer camp sessions. Another addition that has parents and children cheering is the shade canopy. This is a necessity for making summertime outdoor play not only possible but much more enjoyable when that scorching hot Georgia summer sun shines down. We know that even though the playground at the recreation center was a great place to visit before, it will probably become one of the most frequently visited places for children and adults alike with these new additions and improvements.
