{"id":782,"date":"2016-04-07T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-04-07T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nice-cori.104-207-151-122.plesk.page\/?p=782"},"modified":"2016-04-07T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-04-07T00:00:00","slug":"elm-streets-latest-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aroundwoodstockmagazine.com\/elm-streets-latest-work","title":{"rendered":"Around Woodstock \u2013 Cherokee County \u2013 Elm Street\u2019s New Work"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><strong>Art: <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Our very own <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmstreetarts.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elm Street Cultural Arts Village<\/a> is a beautiful example of this definition. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ve not only entertained thousands of us with their<a data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_caption=\"\" data-rl_title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/aroundwoodstockmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Elm-Street-Sculpture-2-of-28-72-1.jpg\" title=\"\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Blue Sculpture\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3937\" height=\"169\" src=\"https:\/\/aroundwoodstockmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Elm-Street-Sculpture-2-of-28-72-1-300x169.jpg\" width=\"300\" \/><\/a> blockbuster plays, they\u2019ve provided free programming to all Cherokee County schools, raised funds for both local families and schools, and donated their space for events such as Open MIC Coffeehouses and Teen Arts Night. \u00a0\u2014 the list could keep going. The organization has been an undeniable asset to Woodstock.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Recently, the <strong>Woodstock Rotary Club<\/strong> sponsored Elm Street\u2019s initial installation of sculptures to the Event Green. The sculptures are beautiful works of art that will give our residents a feel for the big city sculptures like those seen in New York and Chicago. But more importantly, they are symbols of our dedication to the arts and appreciation for the Elm Street Cultural Arts Village. <a data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_caption=\"\" data-rl_title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/aroundwoodstockmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Woodstock-Rotary-Sculpture-Funding.png\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yay!\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3935\" height=\"215\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/aroundwoodstockmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Woodstock-Rotary-Sculpture-Funding-300x215.png\" width=\"300\" \/><\/a>\u201cThe growing support and partnership with our community is so gratifying,\u201d says Shawn McLeod, Elm Street board president. \u00a0\u201cIt means we are more than a commodity\u2026 we are a valued PART of the community\u2019s life.\u201d Elm Street is thrilled with the Woodstock Rotary Club partnership to bring sculptures to the area. \u201cOne of Elm Street\u2019s values is \u2018people\u2019, says Christopher Brazelton, operations director at Elm Street, \u00a0\u201cbecause it is \u2018people\u2019 that bring about that vibrancy, not the events or art necessarily. \u00a0Woodstock Rotary and their support of the community is evidence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s our local people who come together to create places like Elm Street, local people who join the Rotary Club, local people who donate their time and money to make our community what it is.
