Greenstock Day – Join Woodstock on its Journey to “GO GREEN”

April 14, 2014

Woodstock Earth Day CelebrationWith Earth Day occurring this year on April 22, the City of Woodstock has planned events for this coming weekend which celebrate the ideas of recycling, clean up and awareness.

Activities include –

Saturday April 19

Earth Day Festival
The Park at City Center
11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Grab your lawn chair and head out for for free lunchtime music with DJ Tim Cahill of TheCelebration Crew! Clap your hands and tap your feet while enjoying your lunch in the park! Pick up your lunch at one of the local restaurants or the food vendors, and enjoy the show! Fun for the kids with a moonwalk rafts, and vendors for everyone!

Recycling Event
The Park at City Center
9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Electronic Recycling

The City of Woodstock is joining forces with Waste Management and reworx Recycling to bring you a day of electronic recycling. Citizens are encouraged to bring in their old computers, monitors, TV’s, etc. All disposals will be done free of charge, with these exceptions: TV’s $10, Large Projection TV’s $25, and CRT monitors $5. Loose hard drives can be shredded on site for $5.

All equipment will be broken down by reworx and processed so it can be re-used, thus lessening demands on local landfills and keeping toxins from leaking into our soil and waterways!

Battery, Cell Phone, & CFL Recycling

There will also be recycling of household batteries, car batteries, compact fluorescent light bulbs, magazines, cardboard, and newspapers. Light bulbs must be in a clear plastic, sealed bag.

Cell phones will be collected for the Cell Phones for Soldiers Program. Each donated cell phone provides a soldier overseas with 60 minutes of prepaid calling service so he or she can phone family back home. Visit www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com for more information and self-addressed mailing bags to do it yourself from home.

The Woodstock Lions Club will also be collecting eyeglasses and hearing aids for recycling.

Document Destruction

Again this year, Georgia Document Destruction will be available to shred all of your confidential documents. There will be a limit of 5 boxes per car. For business shredding service, please call Georgia Document Destruction at 770-516-6500.

Week of April 21 through April 25
