Fall Break Staycation Options

September 14, 2015

Time flies when you’re having fun, and apparently everyone has been having fun because fall break is almost here! Cherokee County School District is closed Monday, September 21 through Friday, September 25 for fall break. For families with school age children, this may be a welcome opportunity to take advantage of local activities. Here are a few suggestions that we were able to find from our calendar and community resources:September break Cherokee

Hit the Trails

Cherokee County has an amazing trail system that is underway. Check out the trails, or visit one of the 27 parks and facilities maintained by Cherokee County for some fitness and fun time outside!

Swim, Swam, Swum

The Oasis Outdoor Pool may be closed for the season, but that doesn’t have to stop anyone from getting in a few laps in the pool. The aquatic center recreation pool is open for open swim from 9a.m. – 4p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9a.m. – 8p.m. on Friday.

Brown Bag It

Pack your lunch in your brown bag and hit the Brown Bag Concert series in downtown Woodstock on September 24. Take a couple of pennies for wishes in the fountain while visiting the Park at City Center.

Literacy Love

Don’t forget about the amazing resources the local library has to offer. Make plans to stop by over the fall break and get caught up on that fall reading.

We hope you and your children enjoy the fall break around Woodstock. Feel free to share with us what activities you choose to do while you are around and about on our Facebook and on Twitter.
