Woodstock is a fast growing, bustling suburb of Atlanta. With a population over 23,000 in 2010, it is important that public safety is kept a priority. With this priority in mind, Woodstock is seeking interested persons to apply to the upcoming Citizen’s Public Safety Academy.
In order to participate in the ten week academy, citizens must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 19 years of age
- Live in, work in, or have some other interest in the City of Woodstock
- Have a clean criminal history (including no felony convictions and no criminal misdemeanor convictions within one year)
The academy will run from Feb. 26 to Oct. 23. Each week a specific topic will be discussed or a presentation will be given. Topics range from covering basic operations of public safety with a general orientation of police and fire operations to a tour of various facilities within the county. The culminating event of the Citizen’s Public Safety Academy will occur with a graduation ceremony in which participants are welcome to invite friends and family to celebrate with them.
If you are interested in participating in this opportunity and meet the above requirements, make sure you take the time to visit the City of Woodstock website. You will find more details regarding the academy and topics that will be covered as well as a downloadable application.
