Celebrate National Library Week

March 31, 2017

The Sequoyah Regional Library System will offer fine forgiveness, one of many programs Cherokee County residents can take advantage of during National Library Week, April 9-15.

During this week only, past and present fines up to $15 per library card will be dismissed. Residents need to visit their local branch to participate; some fees may be excluded from the offer. Free replacement cards also will be available.

Libraries aren’t only a place of quiet study, but also creative and engaging community centers where people can collaborate using new technologies, learn how to use a 3D printer or even borrow a sewing machine.

Community members – elected officials to toddlers – depend upon libraries and the resources they offer. Resources include e-books and technology classes, materials for English-language learners, programs for job seekers as well as coloring or book club groups and story times.

From left, Kamry Clark, 3, Evie Mallard, 1, Issac Mallard, 3, and Olivia Hankins, 1, enjoy activities at the Woodstock library.
