April 20, 2015

The Atlanta Regional Commission has gathered quite of bit of data regarding the population of those 55 and older in Cherokee County. It seems that this specific segment of the population is growing. With the growing segment of the population represented within this demographic category, it is important that awareness of senior related issues and concerns be made known. As a result, the Cherokee Triad – S.A.L.T. sponsors numerous events and provides multiple resources to help senior citizens in Cherokee County with a variety of concerns.

As a national community policing initiative, Triad exists to help seniors, professionals within law enforcement, and community groups partner together to meet the needs of senior citizens regarding crime prevention and safety. This national organization is present in Cherokee County with the Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.) Council.

Over the years, events have included seminars, workshops, expos, and health fairs. The upcoming Cherokee S.A.L.T. Council Senior Extravaganza is taking place on Saturday, April 25 from 9am-1pm at the Cherokee County Parks and Recreation Building. Over 70 vendors and exhibitors are expected.
